It was announced this past week that Laura Bush will be speaking at commencement. It is always interesting to be at a University that attracts prestigious individuals. It's different than being star struck. To me, it's more about being in the same place as someone who is part of history. I have the unique opportunity to volunteer as a staff person for graduation. Typically, I make an appearance at the ceremony to see some of my student staff graduate. This year, it would have been difficult given the limited space available and the high demand for tickets. Already, I've had my background checked and the bleachers are on the way up. I'll be going directly from the end of the term to volunteering at this event to jumping on a plane to Europe (more to come on this adventure). No rest for the weary!
