One of my favorite things about the Northwest are the many festivals and traditions for each season. Spring in Skagit Valley means fields of tulips. Growing up, we would take our bikes and leisurely bike around the various fields of tulips and daffodils. As with any great tradition, other people start to figure it out. Now, there is a bit of a California feel to the trip as you pick between tulip theme parks, Tulip Town or Roozengaard.
Of course, if you work a little harder at it, you can still see some things for free. I invited Jon/Em and Noah to go up this year and had some students that I was planning to meet. We soon figured out that the students were going the free route and with Noah, it was much easier to tackle Tulip Town.
We enjoyed walking around the fields, where they plant in rows many of the various types for visitors to enjoy. There are also crafts and food and clothing. It was funny with everything else around, Em was asking, "Where can I buy some tulips?"
