A week in Sun River

Sun River, Oregon July 15th-21st

Since I have about a month off in the transition between jobs, I accepted an invitation from my parents to join them in Sun River, OR for a week. It ended up being a mini family reunion as my brother and his family came as well! I had anticipated sitting in the sun reading a book (or 3), which I did, but we also played a lot outside! Whatever we were doing, we were usually being entertained by my nephew, Noah Jon, age 7 months.

Sunday we drove for about 8 hours to get to the house we were staying at and enjoyed a meal on the patio and watched the sunset.

Monday, we discovered a 2 mile trail loop near the house and went for a bike ride with Noah in tow. We also checked out the pool and had fun watching Noah play in the water.

Tuesday, Jon and I biked in the National Forest and found some great trails. The trails are sandy so they are a bit more of a work out! Mom enjoyed some time on the patio. Then we joined the family for a visit to the village for lunch and shopping.

Wednesday, the weather took a turn for the worse, so I was happy to sit around and read my 2nd book of the week. The clouds went away and we enjoyed a float down the river in a raft...not to be confused for rafting as there were no rapids! It was very leisurely. Then we all headed to the golf course for an outdoor concert.

Thursday, another lazy morning and then a three hour bike ride in Sun River to check out Bendham Falls. I took the single track trail and enjoyed a little mountain biking and met up with the family at the falls. This is my favorite picture of Noah as I held him in the air!

Friday started with another lazy morning, which usually included a walk around the river loop and lots of reading! Em and I went to play some tennis and she beat me, no surprise there. The whole family drove out to Bend to walk the shops and eat in town.

Saturday we basically cleaned house and got on the road (which means noon with a 7 month old). It was a great week all in all. I was glad to have a reason to relax and play in the outdoors. It was also good to get home to Daniel, who just purchased the plasma TV I had promised him! He spent the week in his recliner watching movies. I'll probably spend some of my time off on the couch now!

Oh man, I've been waiting for you post pictures of that boy- what a cutie! He reminds me so much of Jack at that age, with that round face, bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. You must be so glad to be near him!

Hi, I'm a friend of Jon and Emily's...we've actually met before ;)

These are adorable photos of Noah.

Did you know I went to Pepperdine for my undergrad? It's a beautiful spot, but I certainly prefer Seattle.

Glad to see you've come home!
