Part 1 of the road trip included Daniel and my dad putting in the "last bag" (you will find out in part 2 why I put this in quotations). After putting in said "last bag", the boys drove off early Monday morning on July 2nd. Rumor has it that they made it all the way through Malibu Canyon before stopping at Starbucks. Then they got on the 101 South, which counter intuitively, one must take before taking "the" 405 North to "the" 5 North...which Daniel says is the
last time I can refer to freeways starting with "the" as Californians are in the habit of doing. Their road trip can be summed up by the following road signs and the fact that they made it t
o Grants Pass on the first night after 14 hours. Although they made it by by about 9pm the first night, they relayed that they had a shaky rental truck which at times felt like it was going to flip. Daniel never did like the grapevine or the various mountain passes, especially in a bad truck! Daniel and my dad made it to Seattle on July 3rd right before holiday traffic. Glad they made it home safe!
