Home from the hospital

What a life experience! I was a bit nervous about labor/delivery, but we made it! After waiting 12 days past our due date, we were ready to move on from pregnancy to parenthood (well, ready as we would ever be!).
By our Dr. recommendation, we had gone in on Monday (Labor Day) to be induced, but were later sent home without significant progress. The plan was to either progress naturally or return to the hospital on Thursday to try a more aggressive approach to inducing labor. Thankfully, Thursday morning rolled around and I woke up at 5am and my water had broken. We went into the hospital at 7am and my contractions were at 4 minutes apart. So...the day began.
For those of you interested in more details, feel free to email or call me. I'll save the rest of you from it! The long and short of it is, we welcomed Nolan Matthew Common into the world at 8:16pm, Thursday, September 4th, 2008!

Happy to be done with labor and really excited to bring Nolan home!!!

A close up of Junior (as Daniel refers to him)

The family waiting in the wings! Good thing we live in town again...Nolan was welcomed by many friends and family...and wished well by a few relatives who just barely missed the hospital visit!

Daniel is an incredible "Papa" and I can't imagine having done this without him...well...you know what I mean.

Although very thankful for our stay at the hospital where they took good care of us, we were more than ready to go home. Here's a picture of our new family.

And, true to the tshirt...Nolan has been teaching us a new schedule that knows no day or night. Daniel and I both crashed a bit after coming home, but are now getting into the swing of things. We've enjoyed having visitors over and are looking forward to more in the weeks to come!
