Memorial Weekend Surprise
After a nice regular weekend of hanging out with friends (Happy 30th Ilse), family (opening day at Sheridan Beach), and catching up on movies (Prince Caspian was great, Indiana Jones not so much)....Daniel surprised me with an overnight getaway to Salish Lodge at Snoqualmie Falls to enjoy Memorial Day. At this time of year when everything is so busy and stressful, it was the PERFECT combination of nature and relaxation.

Since Snoqualmie Falls is only a short 30 minutes from Seattle, we didn't have to fight traffic or waste our precious time away in the car. I have visited the falls a number of times over the years and always looked up at the lodge and thought...who are the lucky people staying there??? Well, this weekend, I was one of them! Daniel got us a room with a river view, so I soaked up the sound of the rushing water, lounged around in my terry cloth bathrobe and enjoyed a chance to rest and refresh.

The package that we got was also a "mom-to-be", so I got completely spoiled with some sweet touches including a gift and roses on the bed, a bottle of sparkling cidar and a pre-natal massage! We enjoyed hiking down to the falls and had about the same pace coming back up the hill! :) Daniel and I both enjoyed the meals and we were able to have lunch/dinner the first day and breakfast at the lodge the following morning. Dinner was probably the best meal I have ever eaten! It was incredibly well presented and everything tasted so amazing. Daniel made me laugh just enjoying the aroma of the food...and of course the signature huckleberry sauce.
